This was inspired by an acquaintance’s dream. Right after they shared this vivid vision of a melting, overwhelming scene of hands reaching with me, I was inspired to capture it on a gold-ground canvas, using gold leaf pieces to bring out the natural roughness of the canvas and create new textures with material and light. To contrast this, graphite pencils were used to create realistic working hands.
